Johanne spent her 2nd six pupillage at Took's Court, the chambers of Michael Mansfield QC, practicing criminal law. Having completed pupillage she practiced in both criminal and family law, where she developed her interest in family law and took the decision to practice solely in this area.
Throughout her career, she has undertaken public family law work, representing Local Authorities, Guardians and parents. In terms of private family law work, Johanne has done ancillary relief work, adoptions and a wide range of cases in the Family Law Act 1996 and Children Act 1989.
After gaining a wide area of experience, Johanne took the informed decision to practice in a small area of family law. She now concentrates on private cases in Family Law Act and Children Act matters, ranging from injunctions, transfer of tenancies, residence and contact. Johanne also specializes in same sex relationship cases. She also has a keen interest in working in the field of forced marriages.
Johanne is a volunteer for the Rights of Women www.rightsofwomen.org.uk providing telephone legal advice. She is also a member of the Family Law Bar Association and BLAGG (bar lesbian and gay group).
When Johanne is not working, she can be found in a gym or swimming pool, having been a recent convert to the notion that physical exercise is good for you! Johanne recently attended a course at the Mary Ward Centre on 'The mad, depraved and darn right wicked, the treatment of minorities in the middle ages'.
For further information regarding Johanne's practice please contact the Senior Clerk, Reg Harris.
